Yesterday we kicked off our 10-day countdown to Christmas by highlighting Moultonborough's Old Country Store and the Cup and Crumb. Take a look at yesterday's post for more information!
Today, we are going to talk about a rewarding act that you can perform from anywhere, with anyone, for anything!
Day Nine: The Act of Giving
Getting presents for Christmas sure feels nice, however most people argue that it's a better feeling to give than to receive. The Christmas season isn't just about buying presents for your friends and families, there are many ways in which you can give to others, below is just a few ways:
- Donating money or goods
- Spreading the word about a business or organization that you care about
- Random acts of kindness
Keep the spirit of Christmas going and partake in one of the above with your family, or think of a different way to give! Everyone has something that they can give others, whether it's your time, a smile, shoveling your neighbor's driveway, a nice card, etc. Giving to others is another way to spread the joy of the Christmas season and it doesn't have to cost you anything at all!
The Schmidt Home Team loves giving in various ways to various organizations. This week, our clients chose to gift a financial donation to the Lakes Region Food Pantry, received by their volunteers: Bob, Diana, Pauline, and Amy.
The Lakes Region Food Pantry does more than simply provide food to families in need. Through the support of the community, they provide food vouchers, food assistance, holiday meals, grocery gift cards, cooking classes in partnership with UNH and Center Harbor Congregational Church, holiday gifts for children through the Moultonborough Public Library Santa Fund, lunch programs for school-aged children over the summer, clothing programs for returning to school, and have a scholarship program for graduates of the Lakes Region high school as well as an adult learner education program.
As you can see, this organization plays a vital role in our community, regardless of if there's a pandemic or not!
The Schmidt Home Team is glad to be able to give to an organization that makes a difference in so many lives. The pantry has a special place in Mary Ann's heart not only because of their impact on our community, but also because she was the buyer-agent for the property where the food pantry is located way back in May, 2014! It's heartwarming to see the organization grow and flourish year after year.
So pick a cause that your family supports and come up with a creative way to give back! I think you'll find that this may be one of the most fun quarantine activities to partake in!
